    Rating Clarification 1.5 StarsCopyright 1941 by the Stratemeyer Syndicate which was the same publisher of the highly popular Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mystery series.I can only assume this was an attempt to parlay the success of Nancy and Co to their fans Similarities include inquisitive teen sleuth Kay Tracey and her two chums Wilma and Betty no, not that Wilma and Betty , but believe me I kept picturing those two in my head the entire time I was slogging through thisI can t speak for how much of a hit this series was with young readers of the 1940 s and 50 s, but given this was the 15th in the series, it must have been moderately successful I wasn t exposed to this one growing up my older sister was a Nancy and Trixie Belden devotee, and I borrowed all of her books , but I can t imagine I would have enjoyed it much I mean, I realize the Nancy Drew mysteries aren t great YA literature, but they sure were fun to read By comparision, this feeble knock off places the Nancy Drew series into the category of classic ...

    I really enjoyed this Kay Tracey story It takes place at Owl s Hole, a resort of country cottages owned by Kay s Uncle Byram Brown He is really a third cousin but due to his advanced age, he is called Uncle out of respect There are strange noises, mysterious phantoms, and destruction plaguing the people who rent or buy the cottages and Uncle Byram is about out of business The Tracey mother and daughter and her friends, the Worth twins, go to stay in one cottage so that Kay can solve the mystery She finds many mysterie...
