I didn t like this book It was published in the 70s but takes place in the 50s so it seems doubly dated for example, a woman encourages a minor to drink and smoke The two girls the main character is baby sitting are supposed to be 9 and 11, but they act MUCH younger, except for their vocabulary The main character is not particularly likeable she has no interest in the girls she is supposed to be caring for all summer The original event she got in trouble for at school when a note was pa I didn t like this book It was published in the 70s but takes place in the 50s so it seems doubly dated for example, a woman encourages a minor to drink and smoke The two girls the main character is baby sitting are supposed to be 9 and 11, but they act MUCH younger, except for their vocabulary The main character is not particularly likeable she has no interest in ...

The suspense was intense the story very interesting But there was a sense of incompleteness, and I felt a little unsatisfied I m going to get Mum to read it and then we can talk about it and maybe figure it out.

I found this book in my middle school library and thought it would be a cool thriller much like everyone else Instead it was an okay book, but I thought the character was kinda weak Which is understandable and accecptable in the time ...

This book was reviewed favorably by a renowned young adult fiction writer It seemed far too sinister for a child s book It was gripping, the characters very believable, but the story oddly dated and some of the overtly Catholic portions jarring The ending was also very unsatisfactorily ambiguous.

  9. says:

What a disappointment I was shocked when the story came to an end because it felt like the twist I d been waiting for never came I agree with other reviewers dated story, unsympathetic protagonist, lukewarm mystery Skip it.

  10. says:

Disappointing read The story began well enough but quickly became unraveled and disjointed I finished reading the book hoping for answers to the mysteries but the ending was abrupt and posed evenquestions.
